Executive – Head of Business Development

Mr Schumann holds an MBA from INSEAD, is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Bachelor of Business Science from the University of Cape Town. He was previously a partner at a Venture Capital fund in London where he held board positions in a number of portfolio companies in the natural resources sector. He has specific experience in the financing and development of mining exploration projects in southern and central Africa.

 

MR SEAN HALPIN   B.Sc. (Hons), ARSM

General Manager – Geology

Mr Halpin is a geologist with over 22 years’ experience of mining and exploration geology both within Australia and overseas, covering commodities including iron ore, gold, copper, lead, zinc, silver and tin.  Most recently he was Chief Geologist for Cape Lambert Resources Limited and its subsidiaries, responsible for their iron ore exploration activities in west and central Africa. Since graduating from the Royal School of Mines in London, Mr Halpin has held senior operational positions at a number of major mining operations in Australia and has developed extensive expertise in the management of all aspects of exploration and mine geology.

As General Manager - Geology, Mr Halpin is responsible for all corporate geological functions with particular emphasis on managing the exploration and development programs on the Mayoko-Moussondji and Badondo Iron Projects.

Mr Halpin is a current member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.

 

Mr IAN COOPER   B.Sc. (Hons)

Exploration Manager – Republic of Congo

Mr Cooper has over 25 year's professional experience as an Exploration Manager and Geologist in mineral exploration, project discovery and management.  Prior to joining Equatorial he was the District Geologist - Mainland Papua New Guinea with Barrick and previously Exploration Manager at AngloGold Ashanti's Sadiola & Yatela gold operations in Mali where in 2010 he successfully completed over 200,000 metres of drilling under budget. Mr Cooper is in charge of the Company's exploration activities at its Mayoko-Moussondji Iron Project.

 

Mr HENRI de DINECHIN   MBA, ENMM Dip

Country Manager – Republic of Congo

Mr De Dinechin has a Master’s degree in Business & Administration, and has extensive commercial management experience in Africa (Zambia, Kenya, RoC, Mali, Ghana, Central Africa). Prior to joining Equatorial, Mr. De Dinechin was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the AREVA (French world nuclear leader) uranium exploration project in Central African Republic (CAR) where he managed over 250 employees, and oversaw exploration programs with annual budgets of $35m averaging 60,000m of RC and diamond drilling annually.

 

MR FLORENT DECKOUS

Government Liaison & New Projects Manager

Mr Deckous is a Congolese national and one of the original project vendors of the Equatorial Resources ROC assets. He has 15 years of international management experience in London and in France. Mr Deckous is fluent in French, English, Russian, Lingala and Kitouba. He holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Dokouchaeva (Ukraine) and holds an Operations Diploma from the University of North London (UK).

 

Mr PHIL WELTEN   B.Sc.

Iron Ore Mining Consultant

Mr Phil Welten is a Mining Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in a range of commodities including iron ore, gold, copper and uranium. He is a graduate of the Kalgoorlie School of Mines and is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. During his extensive career in the resources sector Mr Welten has primarily worked for major mining companies including the Rio Tinto Group, North Limited, WMC, Barrick and Newmont. His background is in Operations Management, Project Feasibility and Resource Development both in Australia and overseas (including Asia / Pacific).

Mr Welten held the position of Mine Manager at Robe River Iron’s Pannawonica Mesa J Mine and also worked on the feasibility studies for the West Angelas Iron Ore Project. He has also held senior management positions at the Barrick/Newmont owned Superpit in Kalgoorlie, Lihir Gold Mine in PNG and WMC’s Olympic Dam in South Australia and the St Ives Gold Mines in Kambalda.
